Aeroqual and Chata Instruments Strengthen Partnership to Support Cleaner Air and Healthier Communities in Thailand

This new memorandum of understanding expands collaboration on air quality monitoring, helping provide authorities and communities with better information to understand and manage the air people breathe.

New Zealand air quality technology company Aeroqual and Thailand-based Chata Instruments Company Limited (“Chata”) have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), strengthening their collaboration to support improved air quality monitoring and management in Thailand.

The MOU builds on a long-standing partnership between the organisations and follows the successful delivery of significant air quality monitoring projects in Thailand. It signals an intention to build on that experience and explore how broader access to reliable, local air quality information can help authorities better understand pollution, make informed decisions and support healthier communities.

The signing took place at Government House in Auckland in the presence of Prime Minister Rt Hon Christopher Luxon and His Excellency Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand.

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon says the agreement reflects the growing depth of New Zealand’s relationship with Thailand and the opportunities this is creating for Kiwi innovators and exporters.

“As we mark 70 years of diplomatic ties, we have a real opportunity to deepen trade, investment and practical cooperation between New Zealand and Thailand.

Partnerships like this are a great example of how we can work together to grow prosperity and deliver lasting benefits for both our countries,” he says.

Aeroqual has been developing air quality monitoring technology in New Zealand for more than twenty years, with its systems now used by governments, researchers, industry and communities around the world. Chata is an established Thai provider and integrator of industrial measurement, environmental monitoring and testing solutions, and a long-standing Aeroqual partner.

The partnership combines Aeroqual’s New Zealand-developed air quality monitoring technology with Chata’s local knowledge, technical capability, installation, integration and ongoing support. Together, the companies have already demonstrated how this combination can provide practical, high-quality air quality information in Thailand.

The new MOU creates an opportunity to extend that capability more broadly, including through government and municipal air quality monitoring programmes. Distributed monitoring networks can provide greater visibility of how air quality varies between communities and locations, helping authorities identify pollution issues, understand trends and make more informed decisions about how and where to respond.

At its heart, the collaboration is about making better air quality information available where it can have the greatest impact. By combining proven New Zealand technology with strong local expertise, Aeroqual and Chata aim to support Thailand’s ongoing efforts to manage air pollution and create cleaner, healthier environments for its people.

The agreement also reflects the growing environmental and commercial relationship between New Zealand and Thailand and the opportunity for New Zealand-developed environmental technology and Thai expertise to work together to address shared environmental challenges.

The MOU is non-binding and establishes a framework for Aeroqual and Chata to explore future projects collaboratively, with individual opportunities subject to separate technical, commercial and regulatory assessment.
