Technology Investment Network (TIN), known as New Zealand’s leading authority on the performance and progress of the technology export sector, recently spotlighted three Kiwi companies "thriving in global markets." Aeroqual has been named several times to TIN’s annual report on the Top 200 NZ Tech companies. Here, TIN praised Aeroqual for “carving out a niche by targeting US states with strong environmental regulations.”

Here is TIN’s recent Aeroqual spotlight in full:

Aeroqual: Winning by Owning the Right Niche

Aeroqual has carved out a powerful niche in air quality monitoring, combining hardware and software to deliver the defensible data that environmental regulators and consultants demand.

Since 2020, with the support of NZTE, the company has doubled down on the US market, now driving more than 65% of revenue. But Aeroqual knows the US isn’t one market—it’s a patchwork of state-level regulations. By targeting states with the strongest enforcement and environmental rules, the company has taken market share from larger rivals like TSI, avoiding the crowded low-cost space and focusing where accuracy, compliance, and reputation matter most.

Aeroqual’s technology is evolving, too. Where its software was once tied to individual instruments, it now delivers insights across sites and projects, enabling consultants to view pollutant trends at scale with a more compelling interface. The next step: extracting meta-value from aggregated data—turning years of monitoring into trends, benchmarks, and insights that could be monetised and used to drive better decision-making across industries.

With eight staff on the ground in the US and leadership anchored in both San Francisco and New Zealand, Aeroqual is on track for $22m in revenue and 20% growth this year. Holding staff numbers steady while growing strongly reflects its high-margin, productivity-driven model.

As more states tighten regulations and Aeroqual rolls out new products and data-driven services, its strategy is clear: focus on the right niche, double down where it can win, and keep building its global footprint.

TIN operates as an independent source of tech information, news, and analysis, highlighting some of the most ambitious and innovative New Zealand companies making waves on the world stage. Aeroqual is honored to have recent wins recognized in this way and looks forward to continued growth and success in the years to come.
