PURPOSE-BUILT OUTDOOR AIR QUALITY MONITORS
Mitigating the impact of air pollution on communities and workers is a key priority for environmental professionals and industrial hygienists. But outdoor air monitoring projects can be complex, expensive and don’t always deliver useful data.
That’s where our outdoor air quality monitors make the difference. We design and deliver integrated sensor and software systems that take the hassle and risk out of air quality monitoring, and deliver actionable and defensible data to users. Put simply, our aim is to make it easy to measure the air.
Purpose-built for the outdoors, our fixed and portable outdoor air quality monitors are robust and dependable. They are easy to set up and operate, and accurately measure ambient air for construction, remediation, urban environments, smart cities and national networks – for compliance, non-compliance and special purpose air monitoring.
Our patented near-reference sensor technology delivers highly accurate measurements for the following parameters:
- Particulate matter
- Nitrogen dioxide
- Volatile organic compounds
- Carbon dioxide
- Hydrogen sulfide
- Meteorological and other environmental parameters

Air Quality Dust Monitors
Dust Sentry is a purpose-built, robust, integrated dust and particulate monitor designed for optimal long-term performance in rugged outdoor environments.
Mini Air Quality Stations
The AQS 1 adds gas monitoring capability to the Dust Sentry platform, giving real-time data on dust and gas emissions on industrial and urban air monitoring projects.
Portable Outdoor Monitors
Our portable outdoor air quality monitors are simple-to-use handheld tools for environmental professionals to gather real-time air quality information on the go.
Ambient Air Monitoring Stations
The AQM is a full-featured air monitoring station that is designed to deliver near-reference performance for long periods even in extreme climates.
We support consultants by providing flexible, integrated hardware and software systems. Our outdoor air quality monitors uphold best practices for accuracy and traceability.
Industrial operators use our outdoor air quality monitors to manage emissions on their perimeter, which helps them improve relationships with regulators and communities.
Schools & Childcare
Education professionals interested in monitoring ambient air use our products to help protect the health and safety of their children, and as an educational opportunity.
Urban Air Monitoring
Organisations responsible for urban and national air monitoring use our sensor-based outdoor air quality monitors in place of or in support of traditional analyzer-based monitoring stations.
Outdoor Air Quality Monitors
Are your instruments US EPA certified?
Aeroqual’s Dust Sentry / AQS / AQM monitors deliver performance that is best described as “near reference”, which is a category of instruments that have recently emerged from the confluence of improved sensor technology and new measurement paradigms. Near reference monitoring can complement traditional regulatory reference (e.g. US EPA certified) networks by providing higher spatial and temporal resolution data less expensively.
How many parameters can I measure?
The number of parameters you can measure simultaneously varies from three to ten or more subject to product and configuration. There are also considerations around your application, location, data quality objectives and of course, budget. To help you identify a solution related to your application, get in touch.
Can I use batteries or solar power?
All our fixed monitors can be powered by batteries or solar electricity, as long as the supply output from the source meets the power supply requirements for each monitor. There are many considerations such as; how long you require the monitor to run, the number of parameters being monitored and the method of data transmission, environmental conditions, and power controllers, to name a few. Whilst we don’t seel batteries or solar systems (our speciality is air quality monitors!), we can help you identify a monitor solution related to your application, get in touch.
How long does/do the sensor/s last?
Aeroqual recommends sensor replacement after two years, however higher exposure levels or harsh environments can lead to a significant reduction in life expectancy. Sensors may degrade even when unused and in storage. Regular calibration is recommended to ensure your sensor is performing to specification. To find out more about calibration on our monitors, click here.
How often do I need to calibrate?
As a general rule we recommend calibration is performed as follows:
- Upon initial installation
- After relocation
- After any repairs or service that might affect its calibration
- When there is a prolonged interruption in operation
- At a routine interval
The frequency of routine calibration is a trade-off between desired accuracy and economic factors. More frequent calibration gives greater confidence in the accuracy of the measurements, but it also results in higher-cost in terms of materials and labor. For simplicity, we recommend one of two calibration regimes.
Indicative Monitoring – We recommend an initial field calibration upon deployment followed by at least quarterly gas module calibrations with weekly data inspections to identify early evidence of sensor drift.
Compliance Monitoring – We recommend an initial field calibration upon commissioning followed by at least monthly gas module calibrations and daily data inspections. However, National, State or Federal compliance monitoring regulations may apply to the project and these should be consulted to ensure your intended calibration schedule fully complies.

I just want the sensor module, why do I have to buy the whole monitor?
Aeroqual sensor-based analyzer modules are designed to deliver ‘near reference’ measurements when used in our monitors. They are tested to tight specifications for selectivity, sensitivity and stability, and factor in the sensor’s strengths and weaknesses, and operating environment.
How do I see the data?
Depending on your instrument there are many ways to view your data. With outdoor fixed monitors such as the AQY, Dust Sentry, AQS 1 and AQM 65 you can view your data online using any web browser, export the data in .csv format, or use our API. Our Series 500 handheld monitor uses a Windows-based application to download, view, and export your data.
